We are involved with several communities which are cut off from the rest of civilization during rainy season because of the lack of bridges over rivers. We are able to get new and used cable, in good condition, from a number of sources in the states, just for the cost of shipping, and so we are hopeful that we will be able to help with several bridge construction projects.

The links above show pictures of a number of smaller walking bridge projects, in various stages of construction. This link takes you to blog posts which document the progress of this ministry.

Sometimes people wonder why missionaries would be involved in helping to build bridges. In reality, the building of bridges is not that different from the building of a hospital or clinic in an area that has no access to medical care. Many of the people in these remote mountain locations lose their ability to access schools, markets, pharmacies, doctors, hospitals, etc. during a large part of the year, when the rains swell the rivers so that they can no longer be forded. In these areas, a bridge can do much to improve the lives of the people, and helping to make these bridges possible is one way we can show the love and care of Christ to the people in the remote mountain villages of Western Honduras.
