Bridge Construction Feeding Centers Medical Care Road Repairs School Construction Special Needs Program

The physical needs of the people in this part of Honduras are particularly overwhelming. As a poor nation, Honduras is not able to provide the infrastructure - roads, schools, adequate health care - that the people need. On top of that, this part of Honduras has been mostly inaccessible until very recently. The education levels in the rural mountain communities are extremely low, and very often a lack of knowledge causes people to make very poor decisions about important life issues.

It was not originally our intention to be overly involved in this type of humanitarian work. Soon after our arrival here in Lempira, however, we discovered that people - mostly children - quite close to where we lived were dying of malnutrition. We felt that we had no choice but to do anything we could to help with such a dire situation, and thus our involvement in mercy ministries began.

Our involvement in helping with these needs has evolved over the past few years. We have to be careful, as the needs could easily overwhelm our limited resources. However, we are doing what we can to get the resources we have out into the communities in need. Some of these resources include food donations and funds or materials for road and bridge construction. Another major resource is Allen's broad base of knowledge in the area of construction, which enables him to help plan and execute large municipal projects.

We have developed partnerships with several different organizations and individual donors, to receive food, clothing, construction supplies and equipment, refurbished computers, and medical supplies for just the cost (to us) of the shipping to Honduras. We are always looking for new partners to help us in this ministry!
